Type Locality and Naming

The type section is located on the right bank of the Chuanheli River, Handaqi Township, Heihe City, Heilongjiang. It was named by Zhang Hairi et al. in 1977, and formally cited in Regional Geology of Heilongjiang Province in 1989.


Lithology and Thickness

Conglomerate, Sandstone and Siltstone. Lower part is formed by rhythmic sediments of yellow-brown conglomerate with lithic sandstone and silty slate. Upper part is medium−coarse lithic sandstone, gray-black siltstone and clayey slate, with wavy, slightly oblique and horizontal beddings. Thickness greater than 405 m.

Relationships and Distribution

Lower contact

Conformable contact with the underlying Huadaqi Fm

Upper contact

Uncertain: top boundary is unclear. Next younger regional unit is Tangjiatun Fm volcanic ash

Regional extent

Distributed in the middle reach of the Quanyan River of Nenjiang County and reaches of the Boergeli, Xiaoheli and Chaergela rivers of Heihe City
